Profile of Programme
The program is to meet the needs of TESOL professionals who would like to expand their understanding of language teaching methodologies in the light of cutting-edge research and recent developments in the field of applied linguistics. It replaces our successful MA in TEFL and provides an exciting program suitable for those currently working as language teachers, those who plan to work as language teachers in the future, and those who have a strong interest in English language learning and teaching. The MA in TESOL also builds on the strengths of the University of Cyprus as a national center for research into second language acquisition, English language teaching, testing and assessment.
Key Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the MA in TESOL, students are expected to have acquired:

▪ A critical understanding of key issues and concepts in Applied Linguistics
▪ Expert-level training in analyzing and teaching English language
▪ Expert-level understanding of different approaches to language pedagogy
▪ Essential language teaching skills and classroom curriculum development
▪ An advanced ability to apply different research methodologies
▪ A profound and critical understanding of language assessment
▪ An ability to carry out qualitative and quantitative research in language
▪ A deep understanding of the interplay between language in the classroom, communication, and intervention
▪ Sophisticated communicative and presentation skills
