iscussion for collaboration with the Embassy and Saudi Arabian universities
His Excellency, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Mr Khaled Mohammed Alsharif, visited the University of Nicosia on Wednesday, 8 February 2023, accompanied by members of Embassy’s staff. During his visit, HE the Ambassador met with the Rector of the University, Professor Philippos Pouyioutas, the Director of Recruitment Unit and International Admissions, Ms Ria Morphitou, the Senior International Admissions Counsellor Mr Panayiotis Votsis and students from Saudi Arabia.
Rector Pouyioutas presented the Ambassador with information regarding the University of Nicosia, focusing on the high-quality education offered. Rector Pouyioutas highlighted the University’s distinctions in the major university rankings and especially its distinctive ranking among the top 501-600 in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023).
On his part, the Ambassador highlighted the possibilities of collaboration between the University and the Embassy in co-organizing a series of events and reiterated his wish to enhance this collaboration, as well as to support the University of Nicosia with its international endeavours, including strengthening its collaboration with Saudi Arabian universities in various fields. The Ambassador, also had the chance to discuss with the Saudi students their experience from living in Cyprus and studying at the University of Nicosia.
In closing, Rector Pouyioutas thanked the Ambassador for the visit, underscoring that the University of Nicosia is always at the disposal of the Embassy to assist and support the Emabssy and the Saudi Arabian students.
